(Obtained from their supplier): Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA)-201 was an aviation unit of the United States Naval Reserve based at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas (USA). It was established in 1970 as part of Reserve Carrier Air Wing 20 (CVWR-20) and deactivated in 2007. During its service, VFA-201 could be identified by the tail code "AF" and nose numbers (MODEX) in the "100" series, typically 100 to 113. The squadron's nickname was the Hunters. This is the "red/white/blue" version of their squadron patch that says "STRKFITRON 201" (bottom tab) and does not come with velcro attached.

When these were originally made for their transition from the Tomcat to the Hornet, the squadron supplier made them from an old design WITH the F-14 TOMCAT on it, but says VFA-201 (bottom). Found a few of these at the back of his warehouse in a box (assuming to be discarded, but never were), so if you're into "mistake" patches, this is one for you....only got a handful of them. This patch does not come with velcro attached.

This is the desert version of the 'Hunters' squadron patch. The 'Hunters' of VF-201 were one of two Naval Air Reserve squadrons based at NAS Dallas, then NAS Ft. Worth. They flew the F-14A models, but transitioned to the F/A-18 Hornet in the mid-90s.
