'ORIGINAL Tailhook 91' Bart Simpson Patch 'ORIGINAL Tailhook 91' Bart Simpson Patch
Size: 5"
In Stock: >5
Price: $14.99

I just returned from the 2018 Intruder Association reunion in which I was able to purchase several collections from Pilots/Bombardier-Navigators that were there. In one of the purchases, we picked up a couple of dozen of the ORIGINAL TAILHOOK '91 patches that had Bart Simpson on it. This was the most crippling event in modern Naval Aviation history due to some sexual harassment incidents. One of my old instructors had these he had forgotten about, until he started planning for this reunion. These are very cool, historical, and do not have velcro.

*NITE SAM QUALIFIED* Patch (Black/Red) *NITE SAM QUALIFIED* Patch (Black/Red)
Size: 3.5" Width
In Stock: >5
Price: $9.99

Operation Iron Hand was a joint United States Air Force (USAF) and United States Navy (USN) operation conducted from 1965 to 1973 during the Vietnam War. It was a type of Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) mission, primarily intended to suppress Soviet-supplied surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems in North Vietnam, although neutralizing radar-directed anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) was important as well. "Iron Hand" refers both to the development of the tactics and equipment, and the numerous individual "Iron Hand missions" that generally accompanied strike packages of the USAF and USN. The "Iron Hand" is a metaphor to the steady hand and nerves of steel it took for pilots to fly directly at the radar-emitting anti-aircraft missile sites while the radar-seeking missiles flew down to destroy the target. The tactics employed on the Iron Hand missions were primarily designed to diminish the threat of SA-2 missiles to a bombing strike force. This patch was created for those aircrew members that flew at night to activate the SAMs so that those carrying the ARM/HARM missiles could launch their weapon and let it "ride the beam" all the way down to the source.....This patch does not come with velcro attached.

Wild Weasel 'YGBSM' (Red) Wild Weasel 'YGBSM' (Red)
Size: 4"
In Stock: >5
Price: $7.99

Wild Weasel is a code name given by the United States Armed Forces, specifically the US Air Force, to an aircraft, of any type, equipped with radar-seeking missiles and tasked with destroying the radars and SAM installations of enemy air defense systems. "The first Wild Weasel success came soon after the first Wild Weasel mission 20 December 1965 when Captains Al Lamb and Jack Donovan took out a site during a Rolling Thunder strike on the railyard at Yen Bai, some 75 miles northwest of Hanoi." The Wild Weasel concept was developed by the United States Air Force in 1965, after the introduction of Soviet SAM missiles and their downing of U.S. strike aircraft over the skies of North Vietnam. This mission was flown by the F-4, F-100, A-4, F-105 and now the F-16 with the F-35 slated to replace them. This is the red version of that historic patch and comes with velcro attached.

A-7E Corsair II Aircraft Patch A-7E Corsair II Aircraft Patch
Size: 4 1/2"
In Stock: >5
Price: $7.99

The A-7E Corsair II is one of the rare breeds of aircraft that found acceptance in both the Air Force and Navy. It's stub-nose was a familiar site on the flight decks of the carriers for over 2 decades. It was introduced in Vietnam and continued to serve faithfully until post-Desert Storm. Once she made her final return, she was replaced by the F/A-18C Hornet. The deceitful appearance masked the fact that she could carry substantial payloads for great distances, penetrate hostile defenses, and deliver the ordnance accurately.
