This patch was created for VMFA-115 as a "historical" patch. It says "ABLE EAGLES" across the top and "SKYRAY" along the bottom. This patch does not come with velcro attached.

VMF-214 was the "Blacksheep" squadron often depicted on the TV series. The currently operate the AV-8B Harrier out of MCAS Yuma, AZ under MAG-13. This is probably the most well-known, notorious squadron in the 'Corps. Their history traces back to the Pacific under 'Pappy' Boyington.

Also known as the "Fighting Bengals", the squadron is based at MCAS Beaufort, SC and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 31 (MAG-31) and the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW). They have a long and distinguished history (see Wikipedia), participating in World War II, Battle of Guadalcanal, Philippines campaign (1944Ð45), Korean War, Cold War, Operation Deny Flight, Operation Provide Promise, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. During those many years of service, they flew the AD-4 Skyraider, F4F Wildcat, F4U Corsair, FJ-3 Fury, F8U Crusader, F-4 Phantom II and the F/A-18A/C Hornet. VMF-311 was the squadron that was established during WW ll and flew the F4U-1C, F-80A, F9F2,and F9F-8 til the end of the Korean war. Afterwards, the squadron changed it's name to VMA-311 "TOMCATS" and now flies the AV-8B Harrier at MCAS Yuma, AZ. Thanks to Haruki Nakamine for that tidbit.

The 'Snipers' of VMFT-401 are an adversary squadron flying the F-5E/F out of MCAS Yuma, AZ. They were the last adversary squadron to fly the KFIR F-21 Israeli aircraft.
