They were established in March 1951 and currently are flying their "Outlaw Hunter" version of the Orion that uses Over the Horizon (OTH) technology to detect targets. This is one of their latest det patch from CAC-4 to Sigonella, Spain in 2002. For the "ish" part, this information comes directly from that crew.........I was perusing your site, which is well put together I might add, and as VP-10, CAC-4's Plane Commander, and eventual Mission Commander in Sig I wanted to clarify for you the 'ish part of the CAC-4 patch. With a procession of high quality individuals as part of our crew, including CDR Dan Schebler, LCDR(Sel) Aaron Dimmock, and LT Mark Hill we were extremely effective. However, a big part of our effectiveness was CDR Schebler's uncanny ability to drop buoys or weapons using his own "timing". When asked if he had dropped in accordance with manuals, his answer was always followed with an "ish". It seems silly, but hearing it on virtually every drop, every day, it became a part of our language and everything suddenly included the suffix -ish. Can you imagine flying a flight and 11 people all respond to questions with an -ish.....somehow it worked for our crew. You got it folks, straight from the crew........ |
