I just returned from the 2018 Intruder Association reunion in which I was able to purchase several collections from Pilots/Bombardier-Navigators that were there. In one of the purchases, we picked up a couple of dozen of the ORIGINAL TAILHOOK '91 patches that had Bart Simpson on it. This was the most crippling event in modern Naval Aviation history due to some sexual harassment incidents. One of my old instructors had these he had forgotten about, until he started planning for this reunion. These are very cool, historical, and do not have velcro.

With the originator's permission, this patch was created by AV8RSTUFF for the VFC-13 Adversary squadron's KEY WEST DET. Portions of the squadron would go TDY down to NAS Key West, FL in support of training scenarios for the Navy's elite combat fighter squadrons. When carrier based aircraft are inbound for landing they transmit their type and fuel to ensure that the trap wires are set at the right tension. An F-14 pilot might have said something like "One-Zero-Three, Tomcat, xx" meaning aircraft number 103 on the nose, a F-14 Tomcat, and xx pounds of gas. F/A-18s are "Hornets". But the E/F/G versions are much heavier,and "SuperHornet" could easily be misheard as just "Hornet". A/B/C/D's identify as 'Hornet" and the "SuperHornets" identify as "Rhino". They do look like Rhinos don't they, gray, ugly, dangerous, big-nose? This patch does not come with velcro attached.
