(Another AV8RSTUFF Creation): The 28th Bomb Wing is a USAF unit assigned to the Eighth Air Force (8 AF) of the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) and is stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD. The wing is also the “host unit” at Ellsworth AFB. The wing is one of only two B-1B Lancer strategic bomber wings in the US Air Force, the other being the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas. Active for over 60 years, the 28th was a component wing of Strategic Air Command’s deterrent force throughout the Cold War. The 4245 Armament and Electronics Maintenance Squadron was one of the support units for the 28BW many decades ago, conducting the necessary maintenance of both the varying ordnance and fragile electronic components.
