The 56th Rescue Squadron is part of the 31st Fighter Wing, Aviano Air Base, Italy. The squadron was previously assigned to the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, England. It operates HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters conducting search and rescue missions. This is their “bullet” patch worn on the right shoulder that says “SMALLEST UNIT IN RESCUE”, and does NOT come with velcro attached.
