ATU-200 Squadron (Old-Repro)

Jet training squadron based at NAAS Kingsville. First jet squadron in the Training Command and forerunner to today’s VT-22 (circa 1952). This is a reproduction patch. (from a subscriber)…… stationed in Kingsville March of 1958 until May 1960. I was attached to ATU-212 at North Field. The Squadron was made up of TV-2 & T-2V Lockheed Shooting Stars when I arrived. We later changed over to F9F-8 & 8T’s Grumman Cougars. Our sister Squadron was ATU-202 that flew F9F-5 Panthers. In late 1959 or early 1960 another squadron was formed, ATU-222 that was outfitted with F11F tigers. At South Field was a training squadron of S2F’s, ATU-402 and no others. During the above dates VT-22 was most likely attached to another base but was not at Kingsville
