Bloodchit-Chinese (LX)

A blood chit is a notice carried by military personnel and addressed to any civilians who may come across an armed-services member Ð such as a shot-down pilot Ð in difficulties. As well as identifying the force to which the bearer belongs as friendly, the notice displays a message requesting that the service member be rendered every assistance. This chit was created for those flyers during the Vietnam War, displaying 14 different languages that might be spoken in the area the military member was operating. This is a silk, reproduction chit, and looks great sewn inside the flight jackets. This bloodchit is from the China Burma India Theatre: the AVG, those who flew the hump and those “Gravel Agitators” (as a friend’s Dad used to call himself) who built the bypass to the Burma Road.
