This patch was created for HMLA-169 and says “CENTRAL NORTHERN VIPER” in the middle of the patch with “NORTHERN” crossed out and is from UDP 17.2. HMLA-169 was tasked with supporting the exercise Northern Viper. Due to really bad weather, none of the aircraft made it to the final destination and had to land in various parts of Japan to wait it out. It was one of those “you had to be there…†jokes within the squadron. This patch does not have velcro attached. (Thanks to one of those “who was there” for the info.)
