This patch was created for the HSC-2 ‘FLEET ANGELS’ and uses the Indianapolis 500 logo, but says “FELKER ROTOR SPEEDWAY” on the ‘wings’, and ‘500’ at the bottom of the white oval. The “Felker 500” is a term for the quick flight we helo crewman and pilots based out of NAVSTA NORFOLK use for when we minimal time to do whatever training and flying we have scheduled for the that event, so we fly up to Felker Army Airfield at Fort Eustis. Felker Army Airfield is the closest airfield to NAVSTA NORFOLK that has all the amenities we need to do basic training and qualification currency flights, VOD sites, runways, multiple landing pads etc. During brief the Head Aircraft Commander might say “Ok gents, today we’re gonna do the Felker 500. We will transit up the James River and shoot some approaches, maybe a couple autorotations and then head home to hot seat on time.” This generally used to describe a quick hop there and back, but can be used just to describe a days training at Felker AA. This patch does not come with velcro attached.
