HSC-9 is a US Navy helicopter squadron based at NAS Norfolk, VA. They are currently (2018-2019) attached to Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8) and deploys aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77). HSC-9 was redesignated from HS-3 on 1 June 2009. This patch was created by the squadron, but they would not tell me exactly why. It shows the SH-60 hovering over an oil tanker in the Persian Gulf and does not come with velcro attached.
