This is the subdued green version with the silver lettering and border of the Flight Suit Sleeve (Pencil Pocket) patch for those who fly/flew the KC-135 Tanker. The ‘T.O.A.D.’ story goes like this: the KC-135s weÕre brought about during the Cold War to form an airbridge to get B-52s across the Atlantic to bomb Russia. Their mission was to give every drop of gas they had to the buffs and then peel off and ditch in the ocean, thence coining the name Tanker ÒTOADsÓ, which stood for TAKE OFF AND DIE. Sounds a little dark, but we like to celebrate the men that were willing to accept the fate of that mission if they needed to.
