Started as VF-921 Reserve squadron that was called to active duty on 1 Feb 1951, they were redesignated VF-84 on 4 Feb 1953, then redesignated VA-86 on 1 Jul 1955, and now currently designated VFA-86 on 15 Jul 1987. The “Sidewinders” fly the F-18 Hornet out of Beaufort, SC. This is the black version of their squadron patch. This patch does not come with Velcro. This patch is the squadron patch for LT JAVY “COYOTE” MACHADO and does not come with velcro attached.
