The “Boomers” from VA-165 were stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, WA and flew the A-6E and KA-6D Intruders under the tail insignia of ‘NG’. They were established in September 1960 as part of CVW-9 aboard the Nimitz, but have since been decommissioned in the early ’90s. This was their ‘BOOMERABBLE” patch they created. It says “YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU JUST DIE TIRED”.
