VA-305 stood up in July 1970 at NAS Los Alamitos, Ca. and moved to NAS Point Mugu, Ca. in 1971. They started out with A-4C then A-4E, A-7A, A-7B then were re-designated VFA-305 and accepted the F/A-18A. VFA-305 was dis-established in December 1994 along with the rest of Carrier Air Wing 30.
