(Found in VERY limited quantities from a collection): The “Buckeyes” of VA-85 date back to their original designation of VA-859 in February 1951, during the Korean War. 2 years later, they were redesignated from the Reserve squadron to their final designation. Having flown from Vietnam to Desert Storm, the Black Falcons (radio callsign “Buckeyes”) were known for the black stripe worn under one eye. They have since been decommissioned and this is their decommission patch creating for that event. This patch does not come with velcro attached.
