This is the VERY SMALL ‘LEMUR’ mascot version of the squadron patch for the VAW-117 “Wallbangers” that fly the E-2C out of NAS Miramar, CA. They were established in July 1974 and participated in the Persian Gulf operations in mid-1991. I believe this is an “inside joke” just for the squadron “new guys”, making them wear these until they earn their squadron colors……It does not come with velcro already attached.
