The VF-11 “Red Rippers” from NAS Oceana, transitioned from F-4Js to the F-14A in 1980. They were originally stationed at NAS Miramar, but have since been switched to NAS Oceana and the F-14Ds. In the early 2000’s, they again transitioned to the F/A-18D Hornet, and currently fly the F/A-18F SUPER-HORNET! They played a key role in the air support during the air strike in Lebanon in 1983. This is the CHRISTMAS version of their current MASCOT patch and shows him wearing a SANTA CLAUSE cap with the ‘peppermint stick’ underneath. This patch does not come with velcro attached.
