The VF-11 “Red Rippers” from NAS Oceana, VA transitioned from F-4Js to the F-14A in 1980. They were originally stationed at NAS Miramar, but have since been switched to NAS Oceana and have switched to the F-14Ds. They played a key role in the air support during the air strike in Lebanon in 1983. This is the desert version of their current squadron patch and does not come with velcro attached.
