The “Tophatters” of VF-14 from NAS Oceana flew the F-14A Tomcat and is the oldest US Navy squadron with a continuous history dating back to September 1919. They received their TOMCAT aircraft in January 1973, replacing the F-4B Phantoms. This patch was created for their 1988-89 MED CRUISE and says “WE KEPT THE PEACE”. It lists all the port calls along the border and does not come with velcro attached.
