The “Flying Checkmates” of VF-211 fly the F-14A Tomcat from NAS Oceana, VA. They trace their roots to VB-74, established in May 1945, but acquired their current designation in March 1959. They are TARPS capable and are based on the West-Coast ships. This is their Y2K Millenium Cruise patch showing all the other squadron designations around the edge with a dragon in the middle.
