VF-74 ‘Red Air’ Squadron Patch

In April 1945, VBF-20 was established. They later became VF-10A in November 1946, then VF-92 in August 1948, then finally VF-74 in January 1950. They flew the F-4S until February 1983, then transitioned to the Grumman F-14A Tomcat. They went to sea in April 1984 aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60) and flew against Libya in 1986 exercises. They transitioned to the F-14A+ (later redesignated the F-14B) and flew numerous missions in the Gulf War. They also performed the “RED AIR” role many times during their Tomcat days and would wear this patch when operating in that role. This patch does not have velcro attached.
