Strike Fighter Squadron 113 (VFA-113), also known as the “Stingers,” is a US Navy strike fighter squadron based at NAS Lemoore, CA. They are an operational fleet F/A-18E Super Hornet squadron attached to Carrier Air Wing 2 (CVW-2) and based at NAS Lemoore, CA. Their tailcode is NE and their radio callsign is Sting. The squadron’s original insignia was approved by Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) on 15 April 1949, and it was slightly modified in 1985. The squadron’s “Stingers” nickname was adopted in 1949 as they were long-time flyers of the A-7 Corsair II before recieving the F/A-18C Hornets in October 1991, then their current platform, the “E”. This patch was created for one of their pilots that actually did ONE-TRAP in his F/A-18E on the French carrier, the Charles De Gaulle….this patch does not have velcro attached.
