VFA-115 F/A-18C Bullet (Desert/4-Stars)

The ‘Eagles’ have a long history, beginning as Torpedo Squadron 11 in October 1942. They became VA-115 in July 1948, and for many years were nicknamed the “Arabs” until changed for obvious reasons. They also gave up their Intruders based out of NAS Whidbey Island in the early ’90s and transitioned to the F/A-18C Hornet flying out of NAS Lemoore, CA. This is the 4-Star version of their F/A-18C bullet patch that they wear on their right flightsuit sleeve. The stars represent the number of aircraft the unit has flown. Their first aircraft was the “TBF Avenger”, then they transitioned to A-1 skyraiders. During the 1960’s, they moved to A-6’s, then to the F/A-18C’s, which is their FOURTH aircraft, hence the FOUR stars. This is the desert version of their bullet patch and does not come with velcro attached.
