The ‘Eagles’ have a long history, beginning as Torpedo Squadron 11 in October 1942. They became VA-115 in July 1948, and for many years were nicknamed the ‘Arabs’ until changed for obvious reasons. They also gave up their Intruders based out of NAS Whidbey Island in the early ’90s and transitioned to the F/A-18C Hornet flying out of NAS Lemoore, CA. This is their version of one of their tailfins for VFA-115 ‘Eagles’ that has the historical “chevron” shown on it.
