The “Kestrels” were established in July 1985 and operate the F/A-18E Hornet. Originally attached to CVW-6 onboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59), they left their East Coast base (NAS Cecil Field, FL) and became the sister squadron of VFA-151 stationed at NAS Lemoore Field, CA. This patch is for the Troubleshooters in the Squadron and the checkerboard is a symbol for the back of the cranials which would have the reflective tape with Checkers on it. This patch does not have velcro attached.
