Based out of NAS Lemoore, CA flying the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet, they were established in March 1952. They participated in Desert Storm in 1991 with CVW-11 and the USS Lincoln (CVN-72). They now fly from the deck of the Carl Vinson (CVN-70). Sometimes they are tasked with flying as ‘adversaries’, so they created this ‘RED AIR’ squadron patch to wear during those flights. This patch does not come with velcro attached.
