Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121), also known as the “Green Knights”, is a USMC all-weather (hence the ‘AW’) aircraft squadron currently operating the F-35B Lightning II. The squadron is based at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan and falls under the command of Marine Aircraft Group 12 (MAG-12) and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing (1st MAW). Their tail code is VK and their radio call sign is “Combat”. The lineage/history of this squadron is extensive, from WWII to current day, transitioning from VMF-to-VMA-to-VMFA. This is the black/green version of the squadron patch (with 2-Tabs) worn by the squadron when they flew the venerable A-6 Intruder. This patch does not come with velcro attached!!
