The “Thunderbolts” of VMFA-251 fly the F/A-18A out of MCAS Beaufort, SC. They operate under MAG-31 and were the third East Coast operational Marine squadron to transition to the Hornet after many years with the F-4 Phantom. They have the Lightening flash on their tails, and also share the same “nickname” with the Navy’s HSL-84. They currently operate with CVW-1 onboard the USS Roosevelt (CVN-71) and this is their 2001-2002 OEF deployment patch. This patch does not come with velcro attached.
