The ‘Maulers’ of VS-32 fly the S-3B out of NAS Cecil Field. Their history dates to establishment in May 1949, with their current designation coming in April 1950. Operating from the flight deck of the USS America during the Gulf War, they engaged and attacked a small Iraqi vessel with 500# bombs, scoring the first ship kill by a ‘Viking’. They also received attention when they also crippled another Iraqi vessel with a wing tank by throwing the wrong ‘pickle’ switch.
