Size: 6" Width

This is the large version (backpatch) of the VF-84 'Jolly Rogers' Skull-&-Crossbones patch. These were created to be sewn in the center of their flight jackets, on their helmet bags, or used in a display. It has no backing, a 'merrowed black' border, and no velcro. You can see the rulers in the image.

Size: 5" Height

This is the large, felt version of the VB-11 Squadron patch. Not sure of the lineage with this patch. It has a 'fine cheesecloth backing under a thin layer of plastic, a 'cut' border, and no velcro. You can see the rulers in the image.

Size: 4.75" Height

This is the 'shield' patch created for the VF-211 'Hunters'. Not sure why it says 'HUNTERS' (bottom), as VF-211 is the Checkmates, but this is one of their patches (note the checkerboard in the background). It has the VF-102 Snake-head on it as well, has the 'Hunters' term from VF-201, and an Eagle (or Hawkeye) bird-head on it. I am thinking this is some sort of exercise patch they created, but I don't know....have never seen it before. It has a thin layer of plastic on the back, a 'cut' edge, and no velcro. This is the 'large' version of the VF-301 'Devils Disciples' squadron patch (with the Devil facing LEFT). It has a thin layer of plastic on the back, a 'Merrowed Red' border, and no velcro. I think it was created for "other than wear" on the flightsuit (plaques, helmet bags, back of the jacket, etc). You can see the rulers in the image.

Size: 4.5" Height

This is the 'large, two-rocker' version of the squadron patch for the VFA-27 Royal Maces. I think this is an "unofficial" patch they created and I have TWO pieces of this patch. It has a thin layer of plastic over fine cheesecloth on the back, a 'Merrowed Yellow' border, and no velcro. I think it was created for wear on Fridays?. You can see the rulers in the image.

This is the shield version of the squadron patch for the VFA-27 Royal Maces. This is one of the first ones they had created, and there are quite a few variants. I have TWO pieces of this patch. It has no backing, a 'Merrowed black' border, and no velcro. This version has the Japanese symbol on the left side of the hand/mace. I think it was created for wear on Fridays?. You can see the rulers in the image.

This is the large version of the 'Plane Captain' patch for the VFA-32 Swordsmen. It shows the plane captain carrying the "tie-down" chains and launching an F-18 with his left hand. This patch has no backing, a 'cut' border, and no velcro. It's larger than the normal version you see, probably created for use on plaques? You can see the rulers in the image.

This is the large version of the squadron patch for the VFA-86 SIDEWINDERS. This is probably used for plaques, helmet bags, or flight jackets, as it's too large for normal wear. This patch has no backing, a 'merrowed black' border, and no velcro. It's larger than the normal version you see, as you can see the rulers in the image.

This is the large version of the VFA-106 'DET KEY WEST' patch. This is larger than the normal patch worn on the flightsuits, so it's probably used for plaques, helmet bags, or flight jackets. This patch has a thin plastic backing, a 'merrowed RED' border, and no velcro. It's larger than the normal version you normally see the aircrew wearing, as you can see by the rulers in the image.

This is the large, yellow-bordered Hive version of the VFA-113 Squadron patch. This is larger than the normal patch worn on the flightsuits, so it's probably used for plaques, helmet bags, or flight jackets. This patch has no backing, a 'merrowed YELLOW' border, and no velcro. It's larger than the normal version you normally see the aircrew wearing, as you can see by the rulers in the image.

Size: 3.5" Width

This is the blue version of the standard oval patch created by the VFA-32 Swordsmen when they switched to the F/A-18F SUPER-HORNET aircraft. This patch is worn currently by those in the FIGHTING 32 squadron on the right sleeve of the flight suit. This patch has no backing, a 'merrowed GRAY' border, and no velcro.

Size: 4.4" Height

This is the yellow version of the STRKFITRON-174 (VFA-174) squadron patch. I have no idea of this squadron (Reserve??), so I don't know if this is a reproduction or an original. If the squadron exist(ed), then I'd say original, but never heard of this unit. This patch has a thin plastic backing, a 'merrowed black' border, and no velcro.

Size: 4.4" Height

This is the white version of the STRKFITRON-305 (VFA-305) squadron patch. They are (were) a reserve unit originally flying out of NAS ATLANTA, but have since been decommissioned. This patch is larger than normal, so probably used on a plaque or helmet bag. This patch has a thin plastic backing, a 'cut' border, and no velcro.

This is the desert version of the VP-8 squadron patch. This patch is larger than normal, so probably used on a plaque or helmet bag. This patch has a white cloth backing, a 'merrowed brown' border, and no velcro.

Size: 6" Height

This is a VERY LARGE (6") version of the VS-27 Squadron Patch. It shows an IRON HAND crushing a Soviet submarine. This patch is much larger than normal, so probably used on a plaque, helmet bag, or (most likely) a backpatch for a flight jacket. I have TWO of these, and both have a thin, plastic backing, a 'cut' border, and no velcro.

This is the blue version of the standard NAS Pensacola, FL base patch. It looks as if it has been worn and comes with velcro attached.

Size: 4" Height

This is the desert version of the standard NAS SIGONELLA base patch. It doesn't look as if it has been worn even though comes with velcro attached. I have two of these.

Size: 5.1" Diameter

THis is one of the cruise patches created for CVN-65 / CVW-17's 1996 Mediterranean and Persian Gulf deployment. It shows the "BIG E" transiting the SUEZ canal. I was in VA-75 for this cruise, but have not seen this patch before. Think it was made by VFA-83 or VF-103 since they were in our Air Wing. This patch has a thin, white, felt backing with a merrowed black border and no velcro.

Size: 4.9" Diameter

This is one of the cruise patches created for USS AMERICA (CV-66) and Air Wing (CVW) -1 for the 1991-1992 'MED LIFE' Cruise. It lists all the port calls along the border. This patch has no backing, a merrowed black border and no velcro.

Size: 4.5" Diameter

This is the (relatively new) Carrier Strike Group (CSG-5) patch. This patch has a thin plastic backing, a merrowed blue border and no velcro. I have two of these.

Size: 5" Height

This is the older, twill version of the Carrier Air Group Ten (CAG-10) patch. They came back from Vietnam, but were decommissioned in the 1980's, I think. Google doesn't know much about them either, so this is a pretty interesting patch. It has a cheesecloth backing with a thin plastic layer over it, a merrowed blue border and no velcro.

This is the newer, fully embroidered version of the Carrier Air Group Ten (CAG-10) patch. They came back from Vietnam, but were decommissioned in the 1980's, I think. Google doesn't know much about them either, so this is a pretty interesting patch. It has a thin plastic backing, a merrowed blue border and no velcro.

This is the red, rectangular version of the Carrier Air Group 69 (CAG-69) patch. I think it's a 'spoof' patch, as it shows two Hornet aircraft in the "above/below" position (ie, the 69 position). It says "Nobody Here Has A Problem". It has a black, felt backing, a merrowed red border and no velcro. I have two of these.

Size: 3.5" Diameter

This is the DET-1 patch for HSL-37 for one of their deployments. It says "DEFENDERS OF ALOHA" and shows the 'EASY RIDERS' mascot with a bandana on....but this was Pre-COVID, so it's not a "mask". It has a black, felt backing, a 'cut' border and no velcro. I have two of these.

Size: 4.75" Height

This is the commemorative patch for HSL-44 for winning the BATTLE 'E' ("A major award" in the US Navy) back-to-back in 1995 and 1996. It says "MAGNUM FORCE" in the center, has a fine cheesecloth backing in the center of the back, a merrowed black border, and no velcro.

Size: 4" Diameter

This is the deployment patch created for HSM-35 for their 2015 'LITTORIA OPS'. It says "THE DREAM TEAM" in the center, has a black, felt-type backing, a merrowed blue border, and no velcro.
