The ‘Gunfighters’ of VF-124 were established as VF-53 in August ’48, then redesignated to their current designation in April ’58. They were the West Coast RAG (Training Squadron) that trained the pilots and RIOs for the F-14 Tomcat. They were decommissioned when all the CONUS Tomcat squadrons were moved to the Master Jet Base NAS Oceana. This is the black-yellow version of the squadron patch and does not come with velcro attached.
