The ‘Black Knights’ of VF-154 fly the F-14A Tomcat as part of CVW-5 onboard the USS Kitty Hawk and home-based out of NAF Atsugi, Japan. The symbol on the patch shows an armored knight at parade rest with shield and sword. This was designed by a LTjg in the squadron in 1957, but then drawn by cartoonist Milton Caniff of “Steve Canyon” fame. This is the desert version they wear when over in other parts of the world.
