VF-211 ‘3-Banana’ Patch (Black)

The “Flying Checkmates” of VF-211 fly the F-14A Tomcat from NAS Oceana, VA. They trace their roots to VB-74, established in May 1945, but acquired their current designation in March 1959. They were TARPS capable and are based on the West-Coast ships. She is attached to CVW-9 aboard the USS Stennis (CVN-74). This is the “historical” version of their squadron patch showing the aircraft that look like “bananas”.
