In April 1945, VBF-20 was established. They later became VF-10A in November 1946, then VF-92 in August 1948, then finally VF-74 in January 1950. They flew the F-4S until February 1983, then transitioned to the Grumman F-14A Tomcat. They went to sea in April 1984 aboard the USS Saratoga (CV-60) and flew against Libya in 1986 exercises. They transitioned to the F-14A+ (later redesignated the F-14B) and flew numerous missions in the Gulf War. This is the ‘DARK BLUE Devil’ version of their squadron patch and does not come with velcro attached.
